Challenge No 1 : Circle Skirt Complete!

Success!

I know my post is late... but I did finish the skirt on Monday night. :)

I used an old Burda pattern to help me create the cutting template and sew it (my mum has a collection of their magazines that I regularly flick through - starting from the 1980's!). This pattern intended the skirt to be a lot longer, "Spanish" style, however I prefer the knee-length look.

I wore it to work on Tuesday and received a number of lovely compliments.

Here is the look...

I am still contemplating my next challenge... however I do have a work Christmas function coming up - so I may need to sew myself a little dress for that!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Stripes

Morning!

A quick post before I go to work... plus a huge sorry as I did not complete my challenge due yesterday! However I am so close to finishing my circle skirt. I have sewn the sides, inserted the zip and made the waistband. All I need is to hem it now and put in a button hole! :)

I will have it made tonight - promise!

Meanwhile... here is a little photo of what I will be wearing to work today...

Not all of my clothes are vintage as I do enjoy mixing modern clothing with different era's and styles. However if it were up to me right now, I would have an entire wardrobe of vintage clothing. :)

Have a wonderful day!!

Pappardelle Pasta

Last night my bosses treated a few of us to a 'thank you' dinner for all our hard work this year.

They took us out to the Subiaco Hotel, a gorgeous venue which intertwines a fine dining restaurant, cocktail bar and sports bar. I started the evening with a Strawberry Daiquiri... for entree we had Turkish bread with some divine dips (you must try the roast capsicum!)... and then I indulged in their Pappardelle Pasta with slow cooked lamb which just melted in the mouth. Of course a couple glasses of red wine were enjoyed with that too.

I spent the day and night in this little outfit below...

Hair: It was a very humid day, and after my shower and a quick blow dry I had a mass of wavy curls to play with - a Brigitte Bardot inspired updo was therefore a must!
Top: Portmans.
Cardigan: Spicy Sugar.
High-Waisted Pants: Ebay (they are wide legged too - sorry I don't have a photo of this!)

Meanwhile... my circle skirt is coming along very slowly. I have cut out my fabric - I just need to put it all together!

Julie & Julia (The Circle Skirt Challenge)

Have you watched the movie Julie and Julia?

I have, and I loved it, and I love cooking even more! But I really liked Julie's blog as she challenged herself to cook all of Julia Child's recipes.

Over the years I have absorbed many beautiful and creative blogs - from lifestyle to fashion, and lately vintage. Blogs written by talented and lovely ladies, many of whom are very inspirational!

I felt the time has come for me to write my own... almost in the way that Julie did.

I want to use this blog as a creative outlet, but I also wish to regularly challenge myself to creative and exciting projects (especially projects I keep putting off).

So I wish to announce my first challenge (starting small), something I have always wanted to do...

Challenge No.1: Make a circle skirt by Sunday 14th November

Lady Melbourne and Casey's Elegant Musings have both been my sources of inspiration for this.

So wish me luck on my first ever challenge, and I'll post an update soon. :)
